The Goal of Life

Two thousand five hundred years ago, ordinary people like you and me used to gather around the compassionate Buddha, dazzled by the radiance of his personality, and ask, 'are you a god? or are you an angel? The Buddha would answer quietly, "no, I am awake." This is the literal meaning of the word buddha" he who has awakened"-awakened from the nightmare of separate living into the light of unity. This awakening is the highest goal of LIFE, and through different religions call it by different names. the goal is one and the same. It is nirvana to Buddhist, moksha to Hindus;Jesus the Christ calls it beautifully " entering the kingdom of heaven with in." To the Jewish mystics it is the return to the promised land. some time it called as Christ consciousness or Krishna consciousness, enlightenment, illumination, self realization. But there is no difference between any of these, as we can see when we keep our eyes on goal itself rather than on the innumerable differences in rites and rituals and dogmas, no matter what they call it, all the great religions point to the same supreme goal.

Messages sent to me by my friend IQBAL AHMED

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us."---Helen Keller.

"False facts are highly injurious to the progress of science, for they often endure long; but false views, if supported by some evidence, do little harm, for every one takes a salutary pleasure in proving their falseness."---Charles Darwin.

"Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting. Not in entire forgetfulness, and not in utter nakedness, but trailing clouds of glory do we come."--William Wordsworth.

"The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed."--Jiddu Krishnamurti.

"Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well."--Mohandas Gandhi.

"Have you the heart? When your head did but ache, I knit my handkercher about your brows-- The best I had, a princess wrought it me-- And I did never ask it you again; And with my hand at midnight held your head, And like the watchful minutes to the hour, Still and anon cheered up the heavy time, Saying, 'What lack you?' and 'Where lies your grief?'. " ---William Shakespeare.

"All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion and forgiveness the important thing is they should be part of our daily lives."---Dalai Lama.

"Feelings may change, commitments do not. "Success is getting up one more time than you fall." I have often wanted to give up, and then I must think to myself about what the consequences of giving up will be. Generally, this is more than enough of a motivation to make us stick to the task at hand even if we don't feel like it. When the task is achieved, Whow!--IT FEELS GREAT!

Nothing in life is more important than God and your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time."

Money will never give you peace of mind.Peace of mind is the most sought after 'commodity' in human life. It appears that most of us are in a state of perpetual restlessness. On analyzing the causes of this restlessness, the solutions that need to be followed religiously if we are serious about achieving perfect peace of mind follow these principles you may get peace of mind: 1. Do not interfere in others' business. 2. Forget and forgive. 3. Do not crave for recognition. 4. Do not be jealous. 5. Change yourself according to the environment. 6. Endure what cannot be cured. 7. Do not bite more than you can chew. 8. Meditate regularly. 9. Never leave the mind vacant. 10. Do not procrastinate and never regret. But you cannot buy with any amount of money. May God help you remain at peace With yourself and the world.Read and conceived.

"be kind and merciful. let no one ever come to you without coming any better and happier. be the living expressions of god's kindness."---mother teresa.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."--- Buddha.

"Sooner or later, you start taking yourself seriously. You know when you need a break. You know when you need a rest. You know what to get worked up about and what to get rid of. And you know when it's time to take care of yourself, for yourself. To do something that makes you stronger, faster, more complete. Because you know it's never too late to have a life. And never too late to change one."--Author Unknown.

"Positive thinking is not only a state of mind but also a way of life. Positive thoughts help people to achieve their goals, to become happy and to remain healthy. This is because positive thoughts help people to develop an optimistic attitude towards things. Just as what is stated in the old saying, the body can achieve what the mind perceives. This means that you can achieve anything if you have a positive attitude."---(Read and conceived).
"When you come to the edge of all the light that you know and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen; there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly."~ Barbara Winters

"In Islam, there is a hadith that reads None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself. And the same is true for Buddhists and Hindus; for followers of Confucius and for humanists. It is, of course, the Golden Rule - the call to love one another; to understand one another; to treat with dignity and respect those with whom we share a brief moment on this Earth."--
Obama Quotes Hadith at National Prayer Breakfast.

"What ever it is that is motivating you, find a way to express that motivation in a tangible way. Find a picture of it, draw a picture of it, or write it out on a piece of paper. Tape your motivational picture up all over your home, at work, at school, in your vehicle. Make sure that you are visually reminded about your motivation several times a day.Keep your motivation in front of you, every day.Keep a Self-Improvement journal that details your goal, your plan to achieve it and the benefits you will reap once you accomplish your goal. Reward yourself with every step you take towards your goal.Make your motivation as tangible as you can."(Read and conceived).

There are many doors to goodness. (Saying) glory to God, praise be to God, there is no deity but God, enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf (until you understand them), leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of ones legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the weak with the strength of ones arms - all of these are (forms of) charity prescribed for you. Prophet Muhammad (s) in Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Volume 3, Number 98.

Official Google Reader Blog: What we did on our winter break

Official Google Reader Blog: What we did on our winter break

Can your friend ship be distingushed by religion?

I am tempted to create this blog on Communal Harmony, because I have traveled many parts of the country and earned my food and wisdom due to the hospitality of people from other communities. With out their love, support and well wishes I would not have been as what I am today, as a successful Management consultant. From my interaction from my well wishers, I am doubly confident that, among the common man friendship out live religion or cast.

Needless to mention, where ever in the world you go, you will come across a Malayali family( Keralaites) to receive you and offer food. There is even a joke about them" Even if you visit MOON, there you will see a Maloo tea shop and Sikh dhabba. These two communities have in common their ability to mingle with any community. Today Malayalies play a significant contributions to the world as a whole.

I attribute this phenomenon to the foresight of our fore fathers and rulers who encouraged international trade and allowed wisdom of other communities to mingle with ours. Sri ChithiraThirunal Maharaja, the last ruler of Travancore, was the first ruler to open the temples to backward communities.

Stories of Ayyappan, with VAVAR & Arthunkal Church rekindles in our mind, Hindu Muslim, Christian friend ship. Christians have a significant role in making of Kerala 100% literate, charity and hospitals. Marxism had made the people think about kindness and dignity of labor.
Today perhaps, Kerala is the only state where freedom of speech for all is practiced.

Mahatma Gandhi died saying HEY RAM, nevertheless every Indian & all religions in India accept him as the father of our Nation. But most of the youngsters doesn't know much about Mahatma Gandhi.

In this context, I strongly believe for the common man it is the family friendship between communities out weigh beyond the religion.

Lets all rekindle the flames of friend ship. Let the world know India has a tradition of communal harmony. No one can split India by cast and creed. We are all brothers and sisters.

Please write to me at kartha.nandakumar@gmail.com about your friendship with other communities. I shall publish them in your name. I look forward to 60million internet users to send me just the list of the names of their friends.I am sure there will be no one in this 60 million internet users who has not enjoyed the hospitality of other communities.

Jaihind!
